Number and Fraction Concepts
Objective: I can put fractions in simplest form.
Power Standard:
6.NS.1 Students will apply and extend previous understandings of multiplication and division to divide fractions by fractions.
6.NS.2-4 Students will compute fluently with multi-digit numbers and find common factors and multiples.
Depth Of Knowledge: Level 2

Vocabulary to Know
Below is a list of words that we have added to our classroom word wall. Students should be able to tell you what the word means and how to use it appropriately in math class.
In Class Activities
Below are a few things that we are working on in class. Links will become active once we have worked on the activity in class.
Math & Social Studies Project
Fact: The United States ranks third behind Indonesia and Japan, in the number of historically active volcanoes. All active volcanoes are located in the western regions of the United States. In the contiguous United States there are 20 active or potentially active volcanoes. When including Alaska and Hawaii, there are a total of 68.
Directions: Research the number of active or potentially active volcanoes per state in the contiguous United States. Put your answers into a chart. Then turn each state’s into a fraction of the total in simplest form.
The states are: Arizona, California, Idaho, New Mexico, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming
Then rank each state in order (by name) from greatest number of active or potentially active volcanoes to the least.
Use the website under Students tab labeled: Topic 5 MP Volcanoes. It is bookmarked on my Symbaloo.
